MAIN COMMENTARY
If the superior person undertakes something and tries to lead, they goes astray; But if they follow, they find the right guidance. Yielding to circumstances and letting things ripen gradually brings success. Hexagram 2 shows an open vast field to represent being open to a situation and understanding the forces at play without needing to control or change things directly. If you try to lead you’ll get lost, but if you follow along you’ll find the right approach.
Companions are found in the Southwest. Seek people who share your values and approach. Be with friends and allies who are like-minded and supportive. Companions are lost in the Northeast because its time to change friendships or alliances as you move towards a new phase in life.
The best way to proceed is to persevere in your own way, not aggressively pursuing, but steadfastly accepting and responding to each situation. Be receptive to what is going on around you, particularly the energy present and dynamics in relationships. How people act and behave and how things are moving along. Allow yourself to be guided by a higher power or an experienced leader, gracefully accepting what comes your way, rather than trying to control things.
Do not force things or dominate, but rather be steadfast, loyal, reliable, trustworthy and accepting. Proceeding with a quiet, inner strength brings success. Be gentle and nurturing and willing to be guided and to respond with grace. Be strong and persevere but not in an assertive way, your strength should not be overpowering and dominating, but in a way that accepts and endures gracefully. That is the smart way to proceed.
Hexagram 2 unchanging means that there are possibilities but not certainties. Things have lead to an impasse.

At the beginning be mindful and adaptable, ready to respond to the evolving circumstances. In any new endeavour careful consideration and planning are crucial for success. Look out for the first signs of difficulties or challenges that may come up and be alert of how things play out so that you are ready to respond when needed.
LINE 2
Good results come more readily when we allow things to develop naturally, without preconceived notions and actions.
LINE 3
Be supportive without striving for recognition or praise. Prioritize being of service to others. Quiet perseverance and patience, allowing things to unfold naturally without forceful interference.
LINE 4
Avoid direct confrontation. Stay low and don’t draw attention to yourself. Your actions should be free of blame or praise to avoid the potential for misunderstandings and retaliation if you act aggressively. Avoid challenging authority or situations and events. A more reserved and cautious approach can help prevent further conflict.
